With the ripened fruit of the ANNUAL PICNIC 2018 comes the event of DFM contest.
The auspicious occasion is followed by the participation of all the students of MAAC in cooperation of the faculty members.
Every year, just before the ANNUAL PICNIC, our mentors declare the notice of the DFM contest and the students get ready for their respective portions.
All the students are requested to make a team and make their own line-ups, production, storyline and shooting process.
At the initial stage, they feel quite nervous about the dos and don’ts.
However, with the course of time, they are given suggestions as well as assistance from the institutes’ part in order to accomplish their works.
After getting enough data and criteria from the centres each team is allotted to one of our specific faculty supervising the entire production.
Time is allotted to all teams so that they can complete their works within a certain time frame.
This deadline is given so as to prepare the students for the fashion of encountering the upcoming multifaceted deadlines in their career.
Digital Film Making Pre-Production
All the teams decide their own team members and they set up themselves responsible for various roles in the film.
They determine among themselves the director, cinematography, the name of the production, the story play, concept, castings, and the scripts.
Subsequently, the scripting is written and one of the students takes the responsibility.
The Digital Film Making Scenario
After all the above-stated actions, the students begin their shooting process.
During their shooting process, our faculty members stood by them so that they face no major difficulty during shooting.
All the sequences are well crafted and well-organized as per the concept and script of the play.
To this, comes the Post-production process.
In this post-production procedure, the team conducted the dubbing, recording, background music implementation process and all other post-work effects creating tasks.
These tasks comprise of the editing and VFX techniques, however, the students make hard to perform those but they did well.
Digital Film Making 2018
In this year, both the Chowringhee and Rashbehari centres participated and showed their best.
But, as you know, only three of the total films will be recognized and honored with the DFM awards, so it was indeed a tough competition.
Even the mentor jury members felt it difficult to select the winner and the runner-ups among them.
After a prolonged discussion and watching session, the mentors are finally ready to declare the winners.
And there was no other special day to announce the winners than the ANNUAL PICNIC DAY.
The prizes were hosted on the day that was decided.
The moment of revelation was near after the events in the picnic and the heart of all students stood still making “Lubb” “Dubb” in a succession as the director of MAAC Kolkata was about to announce the name of the winner.
Yes, it was out and Mr Naveen Choudhary declared “Gondo Murkher Certificate” stood the winner of the DFM contest.
The team applauded, jumped into air merrily.
This particular moment is the joy of our MAAC Kolkata.
This was accompanied by the two runner-up trophies- Aalik the first runner-up and Tumi_Robe Nirobe the second runner-up.
Story play
The film Gondo Murkher Certificate is indeed a marvel of the team and the concept was inspirational.
The story of the film revolves around an innocent, foolish boy who is unaware of the thinking of the entire social world, is moving forward in his life and his sole companion is foolishness.
In the whole succession, he is shown as a dumb stupid young college-goer who is indifferent to the other fellows of his class, is getting backstabbed from his mates.
However, the disrespect he is getting from others does not change him from his originality.
Moreover, his own parents are dishonoring and even saying to turn him out of the house owing to his failure in the exams.
Although such disrespectful attitude never moved this guy to take any illegal steps in life.
The film started with the scene where the guy is standing below the fan holding a cloth in his hand.
Immediately just after watching the opening scene, one comprehends a picture of suicide, but at the ending scene, the truth reveals.
Actually, we, the audience are the original fools who took him as a suicide committer, the scene was basically the boy was trying to wash the fan blades to avoid it remain unclean.
Isn’t it interesting?
Yes, it is.
Coming to the 1st runner-up, Aalik has a spiritual appeal to the audience.
The story starts with a girl in a hospital, trying to portray that she met an accident.
From this succession comes to the progression of the story where she has forgotten her pre-accident life and is living a post-accident life.
She feels attached to the caretaker which she thinks she has him all the time caring her.
Then a day comes when she feels some sort of reflection from the past life and visualizes the caretaker (who wanted her to memorize the pre-incident life she led) as her husband.
At a stretch, she remembers all the moments she spent with the caretaker as her wife before the accident and suddenly she realizes that he, on that accident, lost his life.
And it was a total time frame of hallucination that she led during the post-accidental life.
She recognizes her love, her beloved husband who used to take care of her and she missed those days.
A scene is shown where she wrote her entire experience until then and prays to regain the post-incident memory loss disease so that she remains hallucinating her husband and stay with him forever.
With this spiritual film comes the 2nd runner-up Tumi_Robe Nirobe.
The film indeed touched the heart; it depicted the mother-son relationship before the death of the mother and after it.
How a son feels emotional on the Valentine’s Day and how the viewers mistook him buying flowers for her girlfriend.
Actually, he was buying flowers for her mother on the precious lovely day of St Valentine.
Such a mind-blowing concept reveals the depth of the story writer.
The play revolves around a son, how he behaved with her mother during the presence of his mother and how he realized his mistakes during the absence of his mother.
All these films are from the MAAC Chowringhee centre.

Each and every team gave their best and it was reflected in their works.
